Maybe I’m Just Impatient

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Hiya everyone,

I am forgetful. I forgot about the AnimeExpo and when it came by, it was already too late. For July 4th, I had to go to my cousin’s house. For July 5th and 6th, I had work. I’m sorry, Shu! I really wish I could have gone.

You know how you’re supposed to send in your transcripts to the universities/colleges. For instance, when you applying to a college after high school, you’re required to send your transcripts. So, I had to do that except it was from the community college to UCLA. Boy, it took a long time. Here’s the breakdown:

I thought I could kill one bird with two stones, seeing as how I had to submit a final grades transcript, due July 15, and IGETC certification, due in September. So, I requested those together.

June 10th: I submitted the request for my final grades transcript and IGETC certification. I knew it would not come out quickly because the last day of school was June 13th and it does take a while for the grades to be submitted by the professors and whatnot.

June 20th: Final grades were posted. (I got straight A’s. I was so happy!)

June 24th: I wondered if my transcripts were ready. I called. They were not. They said they would probably be ready next week.

June 30th: Called them again. They were not ready. They said maybe at the end of this week. I reminded them that my deadline was coming up (July 15th). By this time, I am frustrated because I don’t want to miss the deadline. So I ask if I could just get the transcript and get the IGETC later, but they said the IGETC is printed on the transcript.

July 2nd: Called them again. They were again not ready. They say they are swamped with it. They said to call again next week. I reminded them again that my deadline was coming up. They also told me that it was the IGETC certification they were waiting for.

July 7th: I spent the whole morning calling them but I kept getting a busy tone. Finally, I got through. They said it was ready and I could pick up. FINALLY. So, my mom took me (because after that we were going to submit it to UCLA)… I get there. I ask them for my transcript and IGETC. They look for it and ask around. They tell me they don’t find it. The IGETC has to be done by some other office. They tell me to just call again tomorrow. I was even more frustrated. So, I left and as I was leaving, the person from the office came after me and asked again for my name and stuff. Apparently, he just got the envelope (of my transcript and IGETC). I was pretty relieved.

So, I made it before the deadline. It made me think if I was impatient to get the transcript and IGETC, seeing as how it was eight days before the deadline.

So, off to UCLA, my mom and I went. I submitted it. I went to my sister’s apartment to see how it looks (she actually shares it with two other friends). It was pretty small, that I don’t really mind. But, oh my gosh, they are really messy. There was lots of stuff on the floor, like clothes, food, papers, and so on. (I am a messy person too … but seriously, I am not that messy.) It also had a weird odor - maybe that was just from the apartment itself. Oh well, I can’t really complain seeing as how I won’t have anywhere else to go … and I definitely do not want to commute.

Well, that’s it… hopefully, everything else will go smoothly and I won’t have anything else to worry and be frustrated about.

Thanks for the awesome comments: Meagan, Philene, Yukari, Cat, Tammy, vero, Shu, tiffany!

Anime Expo 2007

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

Hiya everyone,

Note: long entry …

I guess you can tell that the highlight of my weekend was the Anime Expo 2007. Well, actually, it was the Anna Tsuchiya concert that was the greatest thing from the AX. XD I never listened to her until my sister introduced me to her music video, Lucy, but even then I didn’t become an immediate fan. …However, that all changed when I attended her concert.

I went to the Anime Expo with my cousin and two sisters. On Saturday morning, we woke up at 6am to get to Long Beach - which was about a 40 minute drive without traffic. We reached the convention center at 7-something, trying to find where the parking structure was. We found it and excitedly went to find where to get our badges and badgeholders. We find a huge, massive line of people. And, we thought we were pretty early. So, from 7 to about 8-something (maybe around 9), we stood in line until it finally opened. The registration was quick. :)

Then, we wanted to go watch the Anna Tsuchiya concert. We were trying to find where to wait in line for the tickets and found a large line of people waiting for her concert tickets. So, from 9 to about 10:30-something, we stood there in line. Then, the tickets were passed out. We didn’t even know where to go from there. We stopped at a cafe. Then, around 11-something, we decided to see if there was a line forming for the seating. We see this large line, all the way to the parking structure. It was so long. Finally, we gave in our tickets and got to our assigned seats. The concert arena was really huge! There were seats almost attached to the walls of the arena. There were also two large TV screens (monitors) on the sides of the stage.

We waited from 11-something to about 12:30 until the concert started (the concert was supposed to start at 12pm). It was awful for the waiting. Our seats were kind of the middle. It wasn’t exactly the most far or the closest. But, once the concert started, I forgot about the waiting and endless hours in the sun. When Anna came out, everyone started to cheer. Everyone stood up and started waving their hands and jumping up and down. It sucks that everyone stood up because the people in front of me were really tall. She started with the song, Lucy and then transitioned to another song whose name I do not know. Then, she talked for a few minutes and sung another song. :D (I’m not familiar with her songs.)

But, I remember one song, Slap that Naughty Body. It was so catchy :D! I couldn’t help but rock to it. Hehee. After her last song, she said goodbye and left the stage, as well as the band mates. People started to leave, while most of us were still cheering and shouting for an encore. The big screens of the arena showed quick, short clips of Anna and her band backstage and then turned it off. Then, we started to hear music and people cheering. Anna and her band mates had came back on the stage. My sisters, cousin, and I were cheering loudly. Since a lot of people in the front-ish had left, I suggested to move up front. So we “ran” to the front (like 6-8th row). It was so cool - to see her so closely. XD She sung two encore songs.

The concert ended and everyone left. :) It was so such an awesome concert. In fact, it was my first concert ever. And, I’m glad it was my first - though I secretly wished my first concert to be of w-inds. Hehe, but anyways, I had a great time at the concert. If you don’t listen to Anna Tsuchiya, you should start now (even if you aren’t into j-rock).

After the concert, we decided to go to the Exhibition hall (where all free stuff and buying stuff are). We get there and there was tons and tons of people (not surprised). We go into the large building where the exhibition hall is held and try to find out where the heck the entrance is. Then, we get some announcement from the staff to get out of the building and form a line outside. :| Great another line. We stood there for a couple of minutes until the line started to move. The exhibition hall was large, but there wasn’t that much stuff. I didn’t really buy anything except for a $7 Mario plushie for my sweetheart. I did get some free stuff — and free cake! :D There were lots of great cosplayers. And, me, without a digital camera was unable to take any pictures of them. There were lots of Death Note and Bleach cosplayers.

There was nothing else to do. So, we decided to leave. We didn’t want to wait in line for the SOS Brigade, even though I had no clue on what it was. ._.;; So, at 4:20pm, we left the Anime Expo and got home around 5ish.

Compared to last year convention, this one was a disappointment. There were too many lines especially in the sun! Plus I didn’t find any J-rock/J-pop stuff in the exhibition hall (no w-inds. :cries: ) But, the only good thing was the concert. Yup, depending on the Guest of Honors for next year’s Anime Expo, I’ll think about going… Hopefully, next year, the location would be a better (and closer) place *cough Anaheim cough*.

Thanks for the comments: Tammy~! :D
