A New Semester with Interesting Information

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Hiya everyone,

I started a new semester at college. So far, all the classes seemed OK. Here’s what I am currently taking:

  • Speech – Public Speaking. Blah, I hate speaking in front of everyone. I usually do it too fast and quiet. So, hopefully, I can overcome those kinds of fear and speak “properly” in front of people.
  • Political Science – Comparative Government. I kind of have high hopes for this class because it seems really fun and interesting.
  • Chemistry – the subject I am taking is: Chemistry and the Environment. I kind of took a course like this back in High School. It was OK. It comes with a lab which I usually don’t like.. but, luckily, two of my High School friends are in this class. I was so shocked when I saw them in this class as well – this could be a fun course.
  • Chinese – Mandarin. Personally, I rather learn Cantonese. Well, I’m only taking this class for fun with my sisters – who dragged me to do this especially since it’s a night class (I don’t really like night classes).

Well, in Chemistry, which is right before lunch.. we’ve talked about “interesting” things such as .. commercial milk and its contents, fast foods and their meat, commercial dog and cat food. All of which are pretty disgusting if anyone has done research in those topics. I would hate to make anyone lose their appetites, but let me explain briefly on some of the topics covered.

  • Commercial Milk – my professor mentioned the cows are injected with BGH which are “estrogen mimics” which are not good for us. So, organic milk is better.
  • Fast foods and their meat – she specifically went over Subway and how lots of people think Subway sandwiches are healthier than burgers. However, in Subway’s deli meat, it contains Sodium Nitrate, and mixing it with stomach acid can cause stomach cancer.
  • Commercial dog and cat food – from what the professor said, those foods are made from dead dogs and cats…

Now, I have to say that I am not 100% sure everything I said positively true. Perhaps it is not? Perhaps it is? All I know is, I might be staying away from fast food for a while. If I learn about anything else in Chemistry or any other classes, I’ll probably – if I don’t forget – post it up. It is quite interesting what the United States’ FDA does compared to other nations… very interesting. Also, I believe that most of the topics I talked about only occur in the United States.

Well, the happier side of my schedule of this semester is that I have no classes on Friday! Yay! Unfortunately I do have work, but I only seem to work once a week, twice at most. And, unfortunately, it is on Friday night that I have to work. Boo…

That’s it for now.

A Monthly Update?

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Hiya everyone,

It seems like my blogging has only become monthly. Haha, I never really planned that or anything. It just seems to me that I’ve been busy.

So, I’ll recap on what’s been happening. I believe this all happened during my winter break. Sometime in January, I went ice skating with my sisters and my sister’s friends. It was my first time. It was so hard. I kept hanging onto the wall as well as my sister (who was able to balance herself and skate pretty well). I kept thinking I would fall – but luckily, I never did. It was fun time though.

Sometime again in January, I went out with friends (finally, we’ve all been busy with our lives and school that we barely hang out and talk to each other). We were supposedly going to watch Sweetney Todd but two of our friends already seen it and we felt bad to make them spend another $10 to watch it again. So, we were debating between National Treasure and Juno. Unfortunately, the theater we went to was not showing Juno and we missed National Treasure. So, we had to watch One Missed Call. Ack, I don’t like scary movies and we even sat in the front. So, I stuck with it and watched it to the end. Aftewards, we went to Burger King and then went home.

Well, sadly, winter break ended. I took a winter session in which the classes are only 6 weeks. I am currently taking Elementary Statistics and Political Science. Overall, it’s alright but lots of work, seeing as how it’s only six weeks so it’s fast paced and whatnot. I think I’m doing okay in both classes – not the best, but not really the worst. Haha. And, for work, I’ve been only working once a week…for like 4 hours.. not much to say about that. I don’t really mind since it’s not something I’d want to stay in or pursue further. I find my education more important .. and my free time.

I’ve recently been into Big Bang, Korean group (mainly because of my sister). I am in love with their song, Always (though I do prefer the English version to be honest). I also love with Super Junior’s KyuHyun (as well as Super Junior). And, it’s his birthday today! Happy Birthday! Haha XD (And, to those who love to pair up Super Junior members — I love KyuMin) :P
I’ve been going over to the Korean music over Japanese music, but then I found out Anna Tsuchiya’s new single, cocoon, was released. I heard a preview and am totally loving it. It’s really a good song. I love it, though I hear mixed reviews about it.

And, I’m such a moron. When I upgraded my WordPress, I had to deactivate all my WP-plugins. And, when I finished, I never activated them. So, I had about 300 something spam in my comments. X_X It took me a while to clean that up. The archives weren’t working either. But now everything should be fine.

Oh yes, I’d like to introduce some new blog buddies (even though they’ve been linked for a long time xDD)! Please welcome, Meagan, Noelle, and Philene! Hehe.

And, lastly, I’d like to advertise my “recent” fanlisting to Keita Tachibana! Please join if you’re a fan!
